Sampling And Mapping Tracks Tassy Vein Over One Km
Frontier Resources Limited (ASX:FNT) has identified indications for a number of undiscovered vein systems throughout the Kimono Central and Kimono South prospect areas in Papua New Guinea’s highlands.
The recently completed Ridge and Spur soil sampling programme also discovered two historical drill holes into the Kimono Central veins which are currently being logged by geologists at the Saki camp. Frontier is planning for follow‐up sampling and drilling at the new prospect areas.
Anomalous gold in soil samples and alteration form geological mapping indicate the Tassy vein extends to over a 1km strike length. Initial stage trench sampling results along the Tassy vein showed significant gold grades of 4m @ 4.78 g/t Au including 1m @ 15.5 g/t Au.
As was found during the Saki soil sampling programme, anomalous trace pathfinder elements As, Ba, Mo and Sb help in tracing sub‐surface gold mineralised veins. Along the Kimono Central vein where historical drillhole KI02 was encountered, anomalous gold and pathfinder elements from the soil sampling confirm a 200m zone of vein continuity.
At Kimono South, anomalous gold and pathfinder elements are continuous over a 360m zone along the projected Dudu vein. The soil line is located on a low‐lying ridge where geological reconnaissance mapping found local gossanous capping on the ridge and the field sampling crew reported intersecting fragmented quartz veins and clay alteration.
Trench KT‐09 is located on this ridge and along the exposed zone of alteration/mineralisation along the Dudu Vein. The remaining 246 trench and rock sample assay results are expected to be received this week.
Soil Line 3 and 4has a 200m zone of weakly anomalous gold pathfinder elements Sb, As, Ba and Mo but no anomalous Au.
