Assay TV catches up with Gerard Barron, CEO and chairman of The Metals Company (NASDAQ: TMC), which is focused on producing metals from polymetallic rocks to power electric vehicles.
Gerard explains that for over a decade, The Metals Company has been exploring a significant deposit of battery-grade metals contained in nodules on the seafloor of the Clarion Clipperton Zone in the Pacific Ocean. During this time, he says, the company has developed and successfully run a metallurgical process to derive key battery metals from the nodules, while generating zero solid processing waste.
Gerard also updates us on the company’s Environmental Impact Statement and Environmental Monitoring and Management Plan, which has been reviewed by the International Seabed Authority, and it has been recommended that the company proceeds with its forthcoming collector test.
