Metal Bank Limited (ASX: MBK) has received results from rock chip samples from the company’s initial reconnaissance work on the Malaqa project area, Jordan.
Metal Banks’s chair, Ines Scotland, said “Our initial reconnaissance work in July has delivered exploration success. Not only has MBK demonstrated rock chips with copper values of economic interest, but these encouraging results come from a number of prospective target zones within the greater area, further demonstrating the underexplored nature of this region.”
Highlights of the results include:
- 0.16% and 8.69% Cu from the vicinity of the Um el Amad mine
- 1.45% and 4.25% Cu from the broader Malaqa project area
Additionally, MBK’s exploration team has identified copper mineralization at multiple sites within the Malaqa exploration area, where newly defined copper mineralization was noted in prospective stratigraphic units being the same units that have been historically mined.
In the coming months, the company will prepare for a maiden drill programme at Malaqa before the year end. This drill programme will seek to test several key mineralized stratigraphic zones at Malaqa for grade, thickness, and lateral mineralization continuity before end of year. A significant portion of the drilling will be focused in proximity to the Um el Amad historical mine.
Also, fieldwork in November is scheduled for testing of priority areas in and around historical areas in preparation for further drilling, conducting aerial surveys, detailed geological mapping, and surveying, sampling, and mapping of the Um el Amad mine.
