Anson Resources Limited (ASX: ASN) has received positive results from its first phase of drilling at the Ajana Base and Precious Metals Project in the mid-west region of Western Australia.
Drilling comprised a 30 hole-1,105m reverse circulation programme targeting highly prospective lead (Pb)-zinc (Zn)-copper (Cu)-silver (Ag) mineralized areas at the priority Surprise and Ethel Maude prospects at Ajana.
Drilling at the Surprise prospect recovered:
- AJRC18 – 12m @ 3.0% Zn, 1.0% Pb & 1.75g/t Ag
- AJRC19 – 4m @ 6.1% Pb & 1.75g/t Ag and 6m @ 2.8% Zn & 1g/t Ag
- AJRC21 – 3m @ 1.0% Pb & 4g/t Ag and 5m @ 3.1% Pb & 0.6g/t Ag
- AJRC30 – 4m @ 1.8% Zn & 4g/t Ag and 3m @ 5.6% Pb & 2.3 g/t Ag
Drilling at the Ethel Maude recovered:
- AJRC16 – 20m @ 0.8% Zn, 0.71% Pb & 5.75g/t Ag, including 4m @ 1.45% Zn, 1m @ 4.2% Pb and 6m @ 9.77g/t Ag
The company has now planned a second phase drill programme to infill and extend mineralization along strike and down dip, with the main aim of defining a maiden JORC mineral resource at the Ajana Project.
In addition, base metal discoveries in the Ajana region since the 1840’s have historically been limited to areas adjacent to exposed outcrops within nearby riverbeds and streams. While once a prominent mining hub for Pb-Zn-Cu-Ag in WA, the Northampton region has remained largely overlooked and under-developed over the last 50 years.
The high-grade base and precious metal intercepts from Anson’s first-phase drilling at the Ajana Project, across both Ethel Maude and Surprise-Galena prospects, enhances the potential for significant regional-scale mineralization in the area.
