American Lithium Corp. (TSXV:LI | Nasdaq: AMLI | Frankfurt:5LA1) has appointed the former Deputy Minister of Mines, Augusto Cauti, as a strategic corporate advisor in relation to its Peruvian operations.
Mr. Augusto Cauti is a seasoned mining executive who served as Deputy Minister of Mines of Peru in 2019-2020. He was previously an executive director of the Australia-Peru Chamber of Commerce (2015-2019) and general counsel for Pan American Silver Peru (2006-2013). A lawyer by profession, educated in Peru and in the USA, Mr. Cauti holds a certificate in the American legal system from Georgetown University, and a master of business Law from Duke University. Mr. Cauti is an experienced professional providing strategic business relations, access to markets and business development advice in the Andean markets.
Additionally, the company has commenced a major technical/social initiative on the Macusani Plateau. The solar electrification programme is a jointly run initiative with the Peruvian Armed Forces, which involves the installation of solar panels in remote homes that lack electricity.
To date, the company has installed over 240 of the 1,000 installations planned for this year to benefit the five Andean communities surrounding the Falchani Lithium project. Each solar unit powers a lithium-based battery, four LED bulbs, a torch, a portable radio, and USB ports for charging cell phones. This transformative project provides needed electricity to isolated farms and dwellings and, amongst numerous benefits, is enabling children to read and study after dusk.
“We are delighted to welcome Augusto to the American Lithium team,” stated Simon Clarke, American Lithium CEO. “His insights and connections across the mining sector are an excellent fit with our advanced staged projects in Peru. The company is also very proud of its long-standing history within its surrounding communities in Peru, having worked in the Macusani Plateau area since 2004. We continue to be committed to health, safety and the long-term well-being and prosperity of our communities.”
