Nordic Nickel (ASX: NNL), a junior nickel sulphide explorer, has been selected to participate in BHP’s (ASX: BHP) inaugural and highly respected Xplor programme.
Nordic nickel is focused on uncovering and developing sustainably sourced, high purity class 1 nickel sulphides in Finland. Its two central projects are The Maaninkijoki 3 (MJ3) Project, which comprises a 30km2 Exploration Licence Application and is subject to an earn-in agreement under which Nordic Nickel has the right to acquire up to 75% of the project in two stages. The second is The Pulju Project, which represents a district-scale 240km2 land project is the package in Finland’s Central Lapland Greenstone Belt.
BHP Xplor is a partnership-based accelerator programme, designed to support early-stage mineral exploration start-ups to find critical resources, such as copper and nickel, required for the global energy transition.

BHP Xplor provides candidates with a unique, non-dilutive grant of US$500,000, together with in-kind services, mentorship, and networking opportunities with industry and investors and connections.
BHP has stated that its first cohort, being Nordic Nickel of seven has been selected out of hundreds of applications received from all around the world, all focused on discovering the copper, nickel, and other critical minerals needed to support the energy transition.
