Here’s our roundup of some of the standout mining investment, exploration, and development stories on Theassay.com over the past week.
News that Roscan Gold Corp. (TSXV: ROS) has received a strategic C$6.4 million investment by Asante Gold Corporation to advance the company’s 100%‐owned Kandiole Gold Project in West Mali has garnered lots of attention. Roscan’s president and CEO, Nana Sangmuah, noted that “this new strategic investment increases our ability to unlock the substantial value at the Kandiole Project with a proven mine building team and a dominant land position in a prolific mining camp”.
Another big story was IAMGOLD Corp.’s (TSX: IMG) unveiling of its initial mineral resource estimate for the Gosselin Zone. The estimate comprises 124.5 million tonnes of indicated resources averaging 0.84 grams of gold per tonne for 3.35 million ounces of gold, and 72.9 million tonnes of inferred resources averaging 0.73 grams of gold per tonne for 1.71 million ounces of gold.
There was plenty of new drilling news, with AusQuest Ltd (ASX: AQD) announcing that it has received permits allowing drilling operations to begin at its Los Otros Porphyry Copper Project in southern Peru. AusQuest managing director Graeme Drew said the company was looking forward to commencing drilling operations before the end of the year. Further north in Manitoba, Canada, New Age Metals Inc. (TSXV: NAM) has kicked off its maiden drill programme on its Lithium Two Project. “The preparation for this programme has been extensive and has included various rounds of surface exploration as well as UAV borne drone geophysics,” said New Age Metals’ chairman and CEO, Harry Barr.
There were plenty of exciting drilling results, too, with Snowline Gold Corp. (CSE: SGD) obtaining further high-grade assay results from Phase I drilling at the Jupiter zone on its district-scale Einarson gold project in the Yukon Territory, Canada. Westhaven Gold Corp. (TSXV: WHN) provided a drilling update announcing it had hit wide zones of gold and silver at the Shovelnose gold property in British Columbia, Canada. Likewise, there was excellent news for Rumble Resources Ltd. (ASX: RTR), which has obtained significant new assay results from the ongoing 40,000m drilling programme at the rapidly advancing Chinook Zinc-Lead (Zn-Pb) discovery at the Earaheedy Project, located approximately 110km north of Wiluna, Western Australia.
Finally, there were some boardroom updates, with Goldsource Mines Inc. (TSXV: GXS) naming Kimberly Newsome as vice-president of finance and Titan Minerals Ltd (ASX: TTM) appointing Barry Bourne as non-executive director.
