Last week’s headlines were dominated by financing updates, exploration and development activities, and some exciting drill results. There was good news for Australian gold and lithium miner Firefinch Limited (ASX: FFX). The company announced that the Malian government had given the green light to proceed with a US$39M joint-venture deal with Chinese giant Ganfeng Lithium to develop the Goulamina Lithium Project. Over in Canada, Surge Copper Corp. (TSXV: SURG) announced it had executed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire a 100% interest in the Sylvia mineral claims located in central British Columbia, which hosts an underexplored porphyry target.
In terms of exploration and developments, we heard how AusQuest Limited (ASX: AQD) has identified prime drill targets at the Hamilton Copper Project in north-west Queensland, Australia, following the completion of down-hole electromagnetic surveys. Across the South Pacific Ocean, in Argentina, Blue Sky Uranium Corp. (TSXV: BSK) is launching a new 3,500m reverse circulation drill programme to expand and upgrade the Ivana Deposit located in the country’s Rio Negro province. There was great news for Altus Strategies Plc (AIM: ALS), which unveiled an updated independent Mineral Resource Estimate for the Tabakorole gold project in southern Mali, which now exceeds one million ounces.
The week also produced some impressive drilling results, with Tesoro Resources Limited (ASX: TSO) hitting more high-grade gold at the Ternera Gold Deposit, where the company is aiming to increase the existing Mineral Resource of 600,000z gold. Eloro Resources (TSXV: ELO) revealed that it has intersected a wide zone of mineralization in its drilling at the Iska Iska silver-tin polymetallic project in southern Bolivia. Omai Gold Mines Corp. (TSXV: OMG) announced that it has completed its 5,000m Phase 1 drilling programme on its Omai project in Guyana. Highlights from recent drilling include 19m of 6.92 g/t AU, 16m of 2.2 g/t Au, and 1.5m of 56.0 g/t AU.
Finally, there was a clutch of new appointments. Thor Mining Plc (AIM/ASX: THR) welcomed Alastair Clayton as a Non-Executive Director to its board, and IAMGOLD Corporation (TSX: IMG) named Dr Anne K. Masse, PhD, as a new member of its board.
