Significant Gold Intersected As Project Area Continues To Grow
Accelerate Resources Limited (ASX: AX8) has received promising final analytical results from Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling at the Comet Gold Project, situated near Cue in Western Australia.
Managing Director, Yaxi Zhan, said the results have confirmed the presence of significant, high-grade, shallow gold mineralisation at the Comet East Prospect, suggesting potential to define shallow gold resources amenable to open pit mining within the Project.
Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling targeted high priority mineralised gold trends at the Antarctica and Comet East prospects.
In total, 17 RC holes for 1,212m of drilling were completed during the programme.
“We are delighted to have returned such significant results from our maiden RC drilling programme at the Comet Gold Project,” Mr Zhan said.
“The Cue region has seen renewed interest following the recent high-grade gold discoveries made by Musgrave Minerals at the Starlight Prospect to the south-west of our project, and we see great potential for further discoveries in this exciting part of the goldfields.
“Accordingly, we have increased our strategic ground position around Comet and are very pleased to have been able to engage Kevin Joyce as our Exploration Manager to drive our exploration campaigns and development for this area.”
Mr Zhan said the assays have confirmed high-grade, shallow and open gold mineralisation at the Comet East Trend, with potential to define shallow gold resources amenable to open pit mining
Significant drill results include: 9m @ 3.89 g/t gold from 34m; 6m @ 1.11 g/t gold from 30m; and 3m @ 2.23 g/t gold from 27m.
The setting and tenor of the mineralisation at Comet East suggests there is good scope to define gold resources which may be amenable to open-pit mining. In addition, the gold- prospective zone at Comet East may represent an underexplored new structural trend parallel to the adjacent Comet trend, which hosts Westgold’s active gold mines in the Comet- Eclipse Gold Camp. Planning is currently underway to develop an appropriate drilling program to further investigate the immediate prospect area and expand drill coverage to the north and south along the underexplored Comet East Trend.
