Aeon Metals Limited (ASX: AML) has received further positive drilling results from its Walford Creek Copper-Cobalt Project in north-west Queensland.
The 2022 drill campaign has been completed with a total of 33 exploration holes drilled for over 13,255m.
Step out drilling of the Le Mans zone has delivered additional validation of the Walford Creek geological model along a further 2.1 km of the Fish River Fault.
• Significant new results include:
o WFDH550 intersected: 47.0m at 1.04% CuEq (0.48% Cu, 0.07% Co, 0.18% Pb,
0.24% Zn, 318ppm Ni, 26g/t Ag) in PY3 from 565.0m;
o WFDH540 intersected: 41.0m at 1.19% CuEq (0.18% Cu, 0.08% Co, 2.39% Pb,
1.42% Zn, 331ppm Ni, 38g/t Ag) in PY3 from 541.0m;
o WFDH546 intersected: 60.0m at 0.70% CuEq (0.19% Cu, 0.05% Co, 0.66% Pb,
0.87% Zn, 253ppm Ni, 8 g/t Ag) in PY1 from 379.0m;
o WFDH547 intersected: 8.0m at 1.41% CuEq (1.42% Cu, Negligible Co & Pb, 0.06%
Zn, 15ppm Ni, 2.8 g/t Ag) in PY3 from 466.0m
o WFDH552 intersected: 18.0m at 0.49% CuEq (0.22% Cu, 0.05% Co, 0.02% Pb,
0.05% Zn, 228ppm Ni, 8 g/t Ag) in PY3 from 363.0m
o WFDH549 intersected: 34.0m at 0.74% CuEq (0.74% Cu, 0.06% Co, 0.16% Pb, 0.07% Zn, 327ppm Ni, 15 g/t Ag) in PY3 from 443.0m
“These latest results from Le Mans provide further confirmation that the mineralisation in both PY1 and PY3 units extends for over 10 kilometres of strike adjacent to the Fish River Fault, from the Amy West zone through to the Vardy zone,” Managing Director and CEO, Dr Fred Hess, said.
“The increased depth of the Le Mans zone has required deeper holes compared to the adjacent Marley zone. This has constrained the total number of holes drilled while also making it more difficult to intersect the PY1 and PY3 zones at the optimum (targeted) locations. This is reflected in the variability of the intercept widths and the metal grades observed.
“Aeon remains confident that the final tally from drilling in the Le Mans zone will allow a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate to be declared for this area in early 2023. The broader picture emerging is that the Walford Creek deposit stretches over 10 km of strike in both the PY1 and PY3 units and that it is currently book-ended by the higher grade and shallower zones of mineralisation at Amy West and Vardy.
“While untested, the high resolution geophysical surveys conducted over the past two years confirm the potential for this known mineralisation to have company. Extensions and splays to the existing Fish Fiver Fault, and a very interesting and similarly extensive EM anomaly some five km further to the south, appear logical companions to host further mineralisation under the circumstances.”
