Aiming To Prove Up 308-385Mt Rare Earths Exploration Target
American Rare Earths Limited (ASX: ARR) has revealed plans to drill nine exploration core holes in the Halleck Creek project area to determine the regional extent of mineralised depth in Wyoming, USA.
Five holes will be drilled on Overton Mountain, four on Red Mountain, with a total length of approximately 825m.
Managing Director, Chris Gibbs, said initial results of the deep core drilling will provide observations of mineralisation, potential resource depths, lithologic boundaries and provide fresh rock core material for additional metallurgical and process testing.
Drilling is planned for Q1 2022 or early Q2 2022, depending on regulatory approval of permit applications. Based on recent mapping and surface sampling, the Company compiled a JORC exploration target report “Exploration Target Summary of the Halleck Creek Project Area”.
The Report provides an overview of the geology, results of surface sampling, and exploration target tonnage estimates at Halleck Creek.
The Halleck Creek project area, located in Albany County, Wyoming, comprises two main areas: the northern Overton Mountain area and the southern Red Mountain area.
The project is owned by Wyoming Rare (USA) Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Rare Earths, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Rare Earths, Limited.
With favourable results from the maiden exploration drilling, ARR will expand exploration drilling into developing preliminary resource estimates for Halleck Creek.
“Surface samples collected in 2018 and 2021 show high-grade REE mineralisation which is rich in Neodymium and Praseodymium (NdPr) with low penalty elements of Thorium and Uranium,” Mr Gibbs said.
“We believe the exploration targets at Halleck Creek with NdPr complement our La Paz deposits in Arizona which contain elevated Terbium and Dysprosium. Thus, giving ARR a complete suite of valuable magnetic rare earths to develop. We are excited about the opportunities these proposed core holes present for the future of Halleck Creek.”
WRE is currently performing additional detailed geological mapping and systematic sampling across the entire project area.
WRE has exploration permits for drill holes on federal claims. WRE is currently waiting on the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) to permit on state land and to set bonding requirements for the project area. WRE hopes to begin exploration drilling in Q1 2022 or early Q2 2022, depending on the time required for WDEQ and BLM approvals
