It’s An El Dorado Of Gold Riches In Colombia
Outcrop Gold Corp. (TSXV: OCG) has made its fourth discovery with initial results from new drilled in the El Dorado target on its 100% owned Santa Ana project in north Tolima, Colombia. The drill discovery was made in the second hole.
El Dorado is located 500m west of La Ivana, one km north of the Megapozo and two km north of the Roberto Tovar discoveries. All shoots discovered to date are hosted in different veins within the Santa Ana system. Two drill rigs continue operating with assays pending on thirteen holes from the Roberto Tovar and El Dorado targets.
Highlights
- Exploration drilling during 2020 has discovered a fourth high-grade shoot in the El Dorado target with a 100% success rate on targets.
- 0.87 metres of 17.7 grams equivalent gold per tonne or 1,293 grams equivalent silver per tonne in discovery hole at 11 metres from surface.
- Less than 25% of the currently recognized vein zones at the core Santa Ana project have been tested by drilling. More veins are likely to be identified with continuing exploration.
“Outcrop continues to be impressed that all targets drilled to date have produced high-grade shoots,” commented Joe Hebert, Chief Executive Officer. “Notably, each shoot reflects a different vein in the Santa Ana system where exploration advancement and drilling will continue.”
The Santa Ana project comprises over 25,000 ha located in northern Tolima Department, Colombia, 190 km from Bogota. The project consists of five regional scale parallel vein systems across a trend 12 km wide and 30 km long. The Santa Ana project covers a significant part of the Mariquita District where mining records date to at least 1585. The Mariquita District is the highest-grade primary silver district in Colombia, with historic silver grades reported to be among the highest in Latin America from dozens of mines.
At the core Santa Ana project, located at the northern extent of just one of the regional vein systems, at least 11 principle vein zones are recognized that cumulatively provide up to 14 km of cumulative strike length.
Drilling indicates that mineralisation extends from surface or near surface to depths of at least 300 to 450m.
