US focused uranium and lithium advanced explorer, Aurora Energy Metals Limited (ASX:1AE) has logged multiple uranium and lithium intersections in its newly completed maiden Reverse Circulation (RC) and Diamond Drill (DD) programme at the Aurora Energy Metals Project in Oregon.
The programme had two objectives, being to target the potential for an extension to the north-west of the existing Aurora Uranium Deposit and to test areas interpreted to host deeper lakebed sediments prospective for hosting lithium. A total of 16 vertical and one angled hole were drilled during the programme, made up of 12 RC and five DD holes, for a total of 3,414 m.
Geophysical Logging Results
Eight holes of the programme were focused on testing the potential for an extension to the north-west of the Aurora Uranium Mineral Resource.
After drilling, and where possible, the holes were geophysically logged to test for uranium and as expected, diamond core hole 22AUDD001, which is closest to historical hole AUD028 (45.7m at 488ppm U3O8) which was drilled in 2011, delivered excellent eU3O8 intercepts, including (using a 100ppm eU3O8 cut-off):
• 5.6m at 370ppm eU3O8 from 99.5m;
• 8.8m at 330ppm eU3O8 from 110.3m;
• 5.8m at 220ppm eU3O8 from 123.3m;
• 9.0m at 410ppm eU3O8 from 132.0m;
• 34.1m at 610ppm eU3O8 from 151.0m;
Hole 22AURC005DT, which was drilled with a “diamond tail” was also interesting, as it delivered encouraging intercepts from outside the recently defined mineral resource envelope, including:
• 6.6m at 280ppm eU3O8 from 157.3m
• 8.5m at 470ppm eU3O8 from 164m; plus
• 5.5m at 390ppm eU3O8 from 196.1m
“It’s great that the team has been able to conclude this first drill programme on schedule. We were fortunate to source the diamond drill that complemented the RC programme, ensuring that we generated a limited amount of core that can be utilised for further uranium metallurgical testwork and potentially the first stage of lithium analysis,” Managing Director, Greg Cochran, said.
“We will release the results of the chemical assays as they come to hand over the next month or so and are already looking forward to the next phase of the programme.”
