Electrum Discovery Corp. (TSXV: ELY) has snapped up one of only eight spaces in BHP’s prestigious 2025 Xplor accelerator programme. The selection marks Electrum as a serious competitor in the junior mining space by highlighting the sheer potential of the company’s Timok East copper-gold project, located in the Republic of Serbia.
As part of the 2025 BHP Xplor cohort, Electrum will benefit from a one-time, non-dilutive grant of up to US$500,000, driving opportunities for Timok East. Additionally, Electrum will gain access to invaluable expertise, mentorship, and networking with BHP and other industry leaders.
Marley Palin, Head of BHP Xplor, congratulated Electrum, stating: “The field of applicants for BHP Xplor was extremely strong this year. Successful applicants had to demonstrate not only that their critical-mineral projects were highly prospective but also that they were committed to pushing industry boundaries in their geological concepts and data-gathering, testing and processing to realize the project. Electrum more than met these criteria and we look forward to partnering with Electrum’s team.”
Established in 2023, BHP Xplor supports promising mineral explorers and accelerates exploration crucial for the energy transition. The six-month programme focuses on enhancing technical, business, and operational excellence.
Dr. Elena Clarici, CEO and President of Electrum stated: “We are honoured and delighted to be selected for BHP Xplor Programme. This is an exciting opportunity for Electrum and a strong endorsement of our exploration strategy underway at Timok East. We have always sought to operate at the cutting edge of exploration practices and it’s rewarding to be recognized for our approach by BHP, a clear industry leader. BHP has global experience for scale targets of the type we are working on, that our exploration will clearly benefit from.”
There are no obligations or commitments for Electrum beyond the conclusion of the BHP Xplor programme in July 2025. However, during the grant period, BHP may choose to make an investment proposal, which Electrum is not obligated to accept. If Electrum declines the investment offer, BHP will have a right of first refusal for any direct investment into the Timok East Project for 12 months following the proposal date.
