Lamil And East Thomson’s Dome Diamond Drilling To Begin In June
Encounter Resources Ltd (ASX:ENR) that diamond drilling is scheduled to commence at the Lamil and East Thomson’s Dome Projects in Western Australia in June 2021.
The Government EIS co-funded diamond drill programme is scheduled to commence in June 2021 at the 100% owned Lamil and East Thomson’s Copper-Gold Projects in the Paterson Province of WA.
Managing Director, Will Robinson, said the programme will extend a number of RC holes at the Dune Prospect at Lamil which contain strengthening copper-gold mineralisation towards end of hole.
“Assays from the broad spaced RC drill programme in February 2021 indicate that we are approaching the core of the copper-gold system at Dune,” Mr Robinson said.
“Diamond tails will extend a number of RC holes at Dune commencing in June 2021. With copper-gold mineralisation strengthening towards the end of a number of RC holes we are eager to test in the downhole extents.
“The programme will also seek to extend the high grade 45 Reef identified at East Thomson’s Dome located just 5km from Telfer.”
Lamil covers an area of ~61 sq. km and is located 25km northwest of the major copper-gold mine at Telfer, owned by Newcrest Mining Ltd. Lamil is adjacent to a major regional gravity lineament which marks the location of a significant structure and deformation zone that would have acted as a pathway for ore forming fluids during the formation of the Proterozoic aged deposits.
The Dune Prospect sits in the northwest of Lamil and consists of a laterally extensive +1g/t Au supergene zone outlined in previous broad spaced drilling. The mineralisation is located on the fold axis in the northern part of the Lamil Dome.
The RC drill programme completed in February 2021 at Dune was designed to test for extensions of the copper-gold system both to the south and east.
Assay results from three of the 10 holes at Lamil were received in April 2021 and contain strong copper- gold intersections including:
• 132m @ 0.31g/t Au and 0.11% Cu from 87m to end of hole in ETG227, including 22m @ 0.51 g/t Au and 0.24% Cu from181m – end of hole sample 2m @ 0.35g/t Au and 0.37% Cu from 217m
•58m @ 0.20g/t Au and 0.12% Cu from 95m in ETG228, including 18m @ 0.29 g/t Au and 0.30% Cu from 95m
Furthermore, assay results from the remaining seven holes from the RC programme at Lamil have defined additional zones of anomalism 200m north and south of ETG0227 with copper-gold mineralisation at end of hole including:
• 4m @ 0.45 g/t Au and 0.14% Cu from 173m in ETG0224 – end of hole sample 2m @ 0.36 g/t Au and 0.38% Cu from 217m
• 18m @ 0.32g/t Au from 173m, including 2m @ 1.67g/t Au from 179m in ETG0233 – end of hole sample 2m @ 0.16 g/t Au and 0.02% Cu from 229m
Diamond tails will extend a number of RC holes at Dune to target further extensions of the copper-gold mineralisation. The first tail will be drilled off EPT0227 which is scheduled to commence in June 2021.
East Thomson’s Dome Project
East Thomson’s Dome is located 5km from Telfer in the Paterson Province of WA. The domal structure at East Thomson’s Dome has a core of Malu Formation with the fold axis trending WNW. The majority of surface gold and reef style mineralisation at East Thomson’s Dome has been discovered in the overlying Telfer Formation sediments. This geological setting is similar to that of the high-grade reefs at Telfer.
Broad spaced RC drilling completed at the 45 Reef at East Thomson’s Dome intersected:
• 6m @ 9.0 g/t Au from 178m including, 2m @ 26.0 g/t Au from 178m in ETG0045
• 16m @ 0.6g/t Au from 154m in ETG0044
These results were followed by an aircore drill program targeting the up dip continuation of the 45 Reef. A >700m long surface gold anomaly was identified.
A diamond drill programme will be completed at East Thomson’s Dome in June/July 2021. The programme will target the south west extension of the high-grade reef intersected in ETG0045. Additional drilling is also planned on section and along strike of ETG0045.
