West African gold explorer, Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX: GMR) has extended a high-grade gold zone at the Diabatou Prospect along strike by 50m at the Kouri Gold Project in Burkina Faso.
Golden Rim has received assays from four reverse circulation (RC) drill holes for a total of 767m. Three RC drill holes were located within the Mineral Resource area and one hole is located at the Diabatou Prospect, 7km northeast of the Mineral Resource.
Managing Director, Craig Mackay, said RC drill results from the Diabatou Prospect include a high-grade intercept of 6m at 9.5g/t gold from 63m including 1m at 20.9g/t gold from 63m; and 1m at 27.0g/t gold from 66m.
“The drilling we are conducting at Kouri continues to deliver positive results,” Mr Mackay said.
“We are very excited about the results of our drilling at Diabatou where we have discovered high-grade gold in a shear zone hosted in granite that is open in all directions.
“We eagerly await the assay results for two additional holes from Diabatou that are currently at the laboratory.”
Golden Rim also announced it has elected to suspend all field exploration activities, including drilling at Kouri in Burkina Faso due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Mackay said the Company’s Paguanta Project in Chile is already on care and maintenance.
“At this stage, the Board is confident that once this situation has abated and upon a decision to re-commence operations at Kouri, the company will be able to act strongly and quickly,” Mr Mackay said.
“Although field exploration activities are currently suspended, the company will continue to compile and assess the considerable amount of drilling, surface geochemical and geophysical data collected at Kouri over the past months, along with the results for a further 13 drill holes and 232 rock chip samples expected during the next few weeks, to add value to the project in preparation for the re-commencement of field work.
“The company is also investigating new business development opportunities.”
