Significant Results Obtained From Hinge Zone Target
Great Northern Minerals Limited (ASX: GNM) has confirmed the high-grade potential of the Camel Creek in Queensland with the receipt of the one-metre results from the recently completed RC reverse circulation (RC) drilling programme.
The programme comprised a total of 15 holes for 3262m of drilling, with three of these (401m) being drilled as diamond hole pre-collars.
The drill programme was designed to follow up on the previous significant results returned from the Hinge Zone and beneath the Northern Pit area.
Managing director, Cameron McLean, said the drilling has provided important information highlighting the nature and geometry of the gold mineralisation outlined.
The result in CCRC86 included 1.0m @ 105.46 g/t Au from 127-128 metres which can be directly correlated with the down dip intersection in CCRC54 of 3 m @ 23.84 g/t Au from 166-169 metres and further down dip again with 1 m @ 153.89 g/t Au from 191-192 metres in CCRC50.
Mr McLean said this very high-grade structure has now been confirmed over 100 metres of vertical down dip continuity.
The detailed and more accurate one-metre representative results provide additional support and clarity to the distribution of the high-grade results within the known Camel Creek gold system, with a number of significant results returned from the Hinge Zone target area.
Delays in multielement analysis and turnaround are occurring due to a significant backlog of samples at the laboratory in Townsville.
“We continue to be very encouraged by the results we are achieving at Camel Creek and are confirming this system that saw gold mined at surface continues at depth and along strike,” Mr McLean said.
“We have learned a great deal about the extent of gold mineralisation particularly in the Hinge Zone. We now look forward to the diamond drilling due to commence in under two weeks ahead of the initial Camel Creek Resource Estimate.”
Planning for the diamond drilling programme at Camel Creek is well advanced with site preparation now complete and an anticipated start by the end of October 2021, subject to finalisation and scheduling with the drilling contractor.
The follow up programme is aimed at producing some HQ3 diamond core to validate and test further strike and depth extensions and once completed will allow the completion of an initial resource estimate for Camel Creek.
