Ionic Rare Earths Limited (ASX: IXR) has announced initial drill results from the Phase 5 resource infill and extension drilling at its 60% Makuutu Heavy Rare Earths Project in Uganda.
Assay results for 56 holes of the 128-hole Phase 5 resource infill and extension drilling programme completed on retention licence (RL) 00007 have been received. The programme is intended to increase resource estimation confidence from inferred to indicated status on resource areas A and B, and to test extensions of those areas to expand the mineral resource area.
Clay hosted rare earth intersections were achieved in 53 of 56 infill core drill holes, including:
- 9.9m at 1,163 ppm TREO from 4.2m in RRMDD767
- 6.7m at 1,008 ppm TREO from 9.5m in RRMDD713
- 2.7m at 977 ppm TREO from 4.4m in RRMDD734
- 9.9m at 952 ppm TREO from 3.9m in RRMDD712
- 7.3m at 828 ppm TREO from 4.8m in RRMDD724
- 6.8m at 792 ppm TREO from 5.3m in RRMDD758
- 21.8m at 783 ppm TREO from 4.7m in RRMDD762
The extension drilling has shown that the mineralization extends at least 1.8km west of the current mineral resource limit on retention licence 00007, and infill drilling has intersected thicker and higher-grade results than previous wide spaced drilling.
Samples for the remaining 72 holes are currently being analyzed or in transit from Uganda to the assay laboratory in Perth.
