Making Strong Progress Ahead of Resource Upgrade
Kin Mining NL (ASX: KIN) has obtained further high-grade assay results from the remaining Reverse Circulation and diamond drilling programme at the cornerstone Cardinia Hill deposit, part of its 100%-owned Cardinia Gold Project(CGP), near Leonora in Western Australia.
The Cardinia Hill prospect, located two km east of the centre of the CGP, was discovered in early 2020 and was targeted with an initial shallow RC and diamond drilling programme, resulting in the estimation of an Inferred Mineral Resource totalling 1.2Mt at 1.66g/t for 61,000 ounces of gold in December 2020.
The latest 14 drill-holes and 1,561m of drilling represents the final 30% of the planned resource in-fill and extensional programme.
Managing Director, Andrew Munckton, said the new results follow the outstanding results reported on March 30, 2021 and May 4, 2021.
“The Phase 4 drilling programne was completed at Cardinia Hill in late May and these final results from the deeper component of the programme demonstrate the continuity of high-grade mineralisation within the Southern and Northern shoots up to 200m below surface,” Mr Munckton said.
“We are particularly pleased to see the high-grade zones now confirmed to a considerable depth and into potential future underground mining positions.”
“These results will all feed into what we hope to be a significant Mineral Resource upgrade at Cardinia Hill later this quarter which will cement its position as one of our cornerstone deposits at the Cardinia Gold Project.”
Cardinia Hill
The Resource extension and definition programme, which commenced in February 2021, consisted of approximately 9,100m of Reverse Circulation (RC) and diamond drilling in 58 holes and was designed to extend the Mineral Resource to approximately 200m below surface, extend the deposit along strike to the north and in-fill the near-surface portion of the Mineral Resource to a nominal 25m by 25m spacing as the foundation for an upgrade of the Mineral Resource Estimate and classification.
Following completion of the resource definition drilling programme a metallurgical test-work programme has commenced by Independent Metallurgical Operations (IMO) on specially drilled metallurgical cores from the deposit. Metallurgical test-work, which is concentrating initially on grinding and leaching performance of sulphide samples, is scheduled to be completed in the September Quarter.
The high-grade Southern and Northern Shoots plunge steeply to the north. Completed RC and diamond drill holes show the steeply-dipping Cardinia Hill shear zone to be well developed at depth along this northern plunge direction. In addition, other narrower but high-grade mineralised positions are evident associated with west-dipping porphyry intrusions as illustrated in Figure 3, particularly in the southern half of the deposit.
Extensional drilling along strike to the north continues to intersect the Cardinia Hill mineralisation – with CH21RC168 intersecting 2m at 4.17g/t at 103m down-hole (approximately 90m below surface). This drilling has extended mineralisation along the Cardinia Hill shear zone to more than 900m. Broad zones of mineralisation continue to be returned from the Southern high-grade shoot.
