Cells On Schedule For Customer Sample Needs In Q3’ 2021
Magnis Energy Technologies Limited (ASX: MNS) has confirmed that Imperium3 New York (iM3NY) has produced its first full sized prismatic cells ahead of schedule for limited testing and customer sampling in Q3 2021.
The first cells were produced using manual settings to refine the product design for future automated production. This is the first stage of demonstration of our ability to synchronise material science, engineering and process knowledge to produce to a commercially viable lithium-ion cell.
While the volumes would increase with fully optimised and automated lines, the current phase works towards production grade design and de-risks design unknowns involved in the transition from pilot production to full scale production.
CEO of iM3NY Chaitanya Sharma commented: “Today’s achievement has been produced with long hours by a committed team that continues to expand. We will keep working around the clock to achieve our production milestones.
Magnis has ownership in lithium-ion battery cell gigafactories that are currently being primed for development in New York and Townsville (Australia).
The company aims to become a leading global producer of next-generation green credentialed Lithium-Ion Battery (LIB) cells, enabling the future energy requirements of the world, the global storage of renewable energy and electrification of transportation.
Leveraging off a world class graphite asset in Tanzania, associated production IP and a strategy partnership with US based Charge CCV, Magnis will manage an end-to-end supply chain, sourcing the raw materials and associated technologies for these cells.
Magnis has three core areas of focus which provide the company with a strategic advantage; battery technologies, gigafactories and graphite.
