NuLegacy Gold Corp. (TSXV: NUG | OTC: NULGF) has welcomed Michael Penick to its team of Carlin-type gold system discovery consultants.
Michael will help in developing NuLegacy’s 2023 drilling programme for its flagship Red Hill Project. The property is located in Nevada’s famed Cortez gold-trend and is known as one of the world’s premier gold mining jurisdictions.
Michael was an integral part of an exploration team responsible for the discovery of a multi-million-ounce goldrush gold deposit just to the northeast of the Red Hill property. He has had a substantial career in mineral exploration and has managed a lengthy career in copper, uranium, and especially gold.
Most notably, Michael has held numerous positions for Barrick Gold, initially as chief mine geologist at its Betze-Post Open Pit Goldstrike Mine, where he was responsible for mine geology, geotechnical engineering, and resource modeling activities. Michael then moved on to become chief exploration geologist, and later part of Barrick’s global exploration efforts as manager.
Both longtime exploration manager, Charles Weakly, and recent consultancy addition, Nancy Richter, have worked under Michael’s guidance while at Barrick Gold.
Together they will focus NuLegacy’s summer 2023 drilling programme and select the best five or six holes to be drilled out of the 25+ possible drill sites that the geo-crew has selected. The company has scheduled drilling for around 1 June 2023 and is estimated to finish in late-July, with the initial assays for gold in hand for reporting expected in the second half of August.
The drilling will require financing as their current treasury (~ C$1.8M) is reserved for maintenance of the Red Hill property and staffing and professional fees. When appropriate they plan to announce a modest equity unit financing.
