Strong Start To 27 Hole Drill Programme
Rincon Resources Limited (ASX:RCR) has received strong assay results from the first five holes from its maiden drilling programme at the 100% owned South Telfer Gold-Copper Project, located in the Paterson Province, Western Australia, 12km south of the World-Class 32Moz Telfer Gold Mine.
The reported results are from the first five holes from the company’s maiden 27 hole, 4,944m RC drilling programme completed at the Hasties Prospect in August this year.
CEO, Gary Harvey, said the company is highly encouraged by these initial drill results, which has confirmed the presence of shallow, high-grade, copper-gold mineralisation in multiple breccia zones
“These are exceptional results from the first 5 holes drilled at the Hasties South-East zone at the Hasties Prospect, just 12km south of the World-Class Telfer Gold Mine,” Mr Harvey said.
“These initial results are approximately 1km south-east of the main Hasties mineralised zone and demonstrate the potential of the South Telfer Project to host shallow high-grade copper and gold mineralisation.
“Results from the remaining holes are expected within three to four weeks where several zones of strong copper sulphide mineralisation have been logged.”
The Hasties Prospect maiden drilling program aimed to confirm historical drilling results completed over 20 years ago by Newcrest Mining, as well as testing for extensions to the known shallow copper-gold mineralisation at both Hasties Main and Hastie South-East (SE) zones at the Hasties Prospect.
At Hastie SE, drilling has intersected shallow high-grade copper-gold mineralisation, which remains open at depth and along strike.
Mineralisation was intersected in the weathered zone as highly ferruginous to gossanous, moderately to steeply dipping silicified breccia zones interpreted to plunge to the south-east, within the tightly folded Isdell Formation carbonates, siltstones and shales, the target formation for copper and gold mineralisation at South Telfer.
Initial interpretation suggests that these zones are associated with folding closures within a regional anticlinal, analogous to the Telfer Dome. Results for holes 21STRC006-027 remain pending and are expected within three to four weeks.
