Sarama Resources (ASX:SRR) has uncovered a new gold trend with the drilling of high-grade intersections at the MM and MC Prospects, part of the 2.9Moz Sanutura Project in Burkina Faso, during shallow reconnaissance drilling.
These intersections, including 34m @ 1.65g/t Au, are in a sparsely drilled area at the MM & MC Prospects and open-up a new trend for future exploration. The latest drilling totals 700m, part of an ongoing +50,000m programme at the company’s 100%-owned, multi-million ounce Sanutura Project, primarily designed to increase the oxide component of the Project’s already large 0.6Moz Au (Indicated) plus 2.3Moz Au (Inferred) Mineral Resource.
Highlights:
- Highlight intercept of 34m at 1.65g/t from just 18m in a sparsely drilled area at the MM and MC prospects, which has opened up a new trend that extends for about 1.7km.
- Potential for discovery of significant mineralised lodes oblique to the strike of the current resource, which are integral to the gold endowment of the MM and MC Prospects.
- Intersections are in shallow, oxide material with high potential to add to the oxide and transition component of the resource, currently standing at 0.2Moz (Indicated) plus 0.8Moz (Inferred).
- Results continue to highlight the potential for new discoveries and resource extension in underexplored areas.
“We are very pleased with these results and once again, the current drill programme is delivering new, shallow high-value material, building on the new discovery at the Obi Prospect and new high-grade mineralisation within the MM Prospect,” President, CEO and MD, Andrew Dinning said.
“We are particularly excited by the 34m @ 1.65g/t Au intersection which is significant not only because it is in oxide material but also as it is outside the current Mineral Resource.
“The results show potential for another new exploration trend featuring oblique and/or blind mineralisation that has the potential to add significant amounts of high-value material to the current Mineral Resource.”
The drilling is part of the ongoing +50,000m drill programme at the Project which is designed to significantly increase the oxide and transition component of the Mineral Resource which currently stands at 0.2Moz Au (Indicated) plus 0.8Moz Au (Inferred).
Several of the new significant drill intersections occur within the Tankoro Deposit corridor in an area that is sparsely drilled and outside the current Mineral Resource, highlighting the potential for new discoveries in between existing wide-spaced drilling in underexplored areas.
