Sihayo Gold Limited’s (ASX:SIH) latest drilling results continue to extend Sihorbo South in the Hutabargot Julu area in the North block of the PT Sorikmas Mining Contract of Work (CoW) located in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia.
“Exploration results for Sihorbo South continue to illustrate the potential for the Sihorbo South deposit to become a satellite operation for the Sihayo Starter Project,” Executive Chairman, Colin Moorhead, said.
“By utilising the existing infrastructure envisaged for the Sihayo Starter Project, the incremental ounces from Sihorbo South have the potential to add considerable value to the project. We look forward to releasing a maiden Mineral Resource for the deposit shortly.”
Highlight results include encouraging gold and silver intercepts:
- HUTDD126: 3.0 m @ 25.15 AuEq1 with 24.88 g/t Au and 20 g/t Ag from 112.0, and 7.0 m @ 1.18 g/t AuEq with 0.9 g/t Au and 21 g/t Ag from 129.0m
- HUTDD122: 1.8 m @ 2.70 AuEq with 0.82 g/t Au and 138 g/t Ag from 110.8 m and 4.5 m @ 1.09 g/t AuEq with 0.72 g/t Au and 27 g/t Ag from 152.5 m
- HUTDD123: 14.0 m @ 1.85 g/t AuEq with 1.45 g/t Au and 30 g/t Ag from 153.0 m, and 6.8 m @ 1.13 g/t AuEq with 0.84 g/t Au and 21 g/t Ag from 185.2 m
- HUTDD129: 13.1 m @ 1.59 AuEq with 1.29 g/t Au and 22 g/t Ag from 174.0 m, and 9.10 m @ 0.75 g/t AuEq with 0.65 g/t Au and 7 g/t Ag from 193.4 m
Background
Sihorbo South is an intermediate-sulphidation epithermal gold-silver vein system located in the South-West corner of the large Hutabargot Julu prospect at the southern end of the Sihayo Gold Belt and approximately six km southeast of the proposed Sihayo Starter Project site.
It was discovered by the Dutch in the 1930s who excavated a short adit located on the northern part of the vein system. This historic adit is thought to be an exploration tunnel because there is no recorded historic gold production.
Local miners have accessed this tunnel for small-scale artisanal mining over the past 10 years.
Follow-up mapping and scout drilling conducted by the company in 2012-13 returned encouraging historic gold-silver intercepts including 3.70 m at 15.45 g/t Au and 23 g/t Ag from 55.40 m in HUTDD040 and 16.80 m at 1.43 g/t Au and 237 g/t Ag from 46.95 m in HUTDD045.
Sihorbo South is a silver-rich vein system that has returned significant silver-gold intercepts and shows potential for bonanza-grade ore shoots.
