Solstice Minerals Limited (ASX:SLS) has identified “exceptional” PGE (platinum and palladium) and gold values associated with the recent high-grade Ni sulphide intercepts at the GSP Prospect within its wholly-owned Ringlock Dam Nickel Project in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
Highlights
- The exceptional 1.81m @18.1% nickel intercept recently reported1 in GSPDD0005 is accompanied by high-grade palladium (19.06g/t), platinum (2.22g/t) and gold (2.21g/t)
- Strongly anomalous (>0.1ppm) PGE+Au is also associated with other previously reported zones of Ni sulphide mineralization
- GSP shapes up as a high-tenor magmatic nickel sulphide system, with recent results validating further exploration into down-plunge and along strike positions
- Vein (GSPDD0005) and stringer style intercepts at or below basal footwall contact are interpreted as evidence of a primary footwall magmatic massive sulphide system that has been remobilized by later structures
- Detailed interpretation underway to define next drill targets, with the prize being an intact Kambalda or Silver Swan style high-grade massive sulphide accumulation – either down-plunge following the flow corridor or along strike.
“The 1.81m @18.1% Ni vein in GSPD0005 has now been shown to be accompanied by significant PGE and gold credits – this is high-value material and GSP is a genuine high-tenor system,” CEO and Managing Director, Nick Castleden, said.
“The exploration promise of an intact footwall massive sulphide body nearby strongly motivates exploration into strike and plunge positions and our geologists are now undertaking the detailed interpretation work to bring forward these targets.
“We have a high degree of confidence that this ultramafic package can deliver the goods – as shown by the historic high-grade Silver Swan deposit located only 30km along strike.”
Solstice has report PGE (platinum and palladium) and gold analytical results from the six diamond drill holes drilled at the GSP Prospect. This set of results is led by a standout intercept of 1.81m @19.06ppm Pd, 2.22g/t Pt and 2.21g/t Au which accompany the previously reported high grade Ni intersection of 1.81m @18.1% Ni from 101.85m in GSPDD00052. Analytical results for GSPDD0006 have also now been received and are also reported here.
GSP is located within the Ringlock Dam Nickel Project area approximately 65km north of Kalgoorlie and was discovered during the 1970s nickel exploration boom and has seen several phases of exploration since. The Prospect hosts disseminated magmatic sulphide mineralization in channelized ultramafic flows as well as stringer and vein style accumulation along and below the key prospective basal/footwall contact.
The Prospect is located approximately 30km northwest of the high-grade Silver Swan massive nickel sulphide deposit (historical underground production 2.7Mt @5.1% Ni for 137.5kt Ni) and is hosted by the interpreted strike extension of the same Black Swan Komatiite Complex.
