Strickland Metals Limited (ASX:STK) has obtained further promising assays from its 100% owned Millrose gold project located on the north east flank of the Yandal Belt in Western Australia.
“After last week’s release of the assay in MRRC089 (55m @ 2.4g/t Au from 86m), it’s fantastic to be able to release this follow up result of 25m @ 5.1g/t Au from 82m,” CEO, Andrew Bray, said.
“The fact this hole intersected the same primary high-grade domain 200m to the south gives the company further confidence that we are dealing with a very substantial gold system
“The drilling to date has contributed enormously to our understanding of the geology. It appears the banded iron formation (BIF) unit in the footwall is a key marker horizon for the gold mineralisation. Previous magnetic surveys highlight this BIF unit extending for over 8km, with possible further offset extensions to the north.
“Visual observations from diamond core and RC drill chips to the south and north of the current assays appears to confirm this interpretation of the geology. It’s also supported by the presence of visible gold in MRDD011, which is 500m south of the assay released today, further suggesting continuity of the system. Based on this new exploration model, our drilling program has been altered to now focus on determining the lateral extent of the mineralisation.
“The RC and diamond rigs will continue to follow the main shear zone to the north and south, before returning to complete the planned mineral resource drill-out.
“In line with this expanded programme, the company is looking to add additional rigs to Millrose to expedite extensional drilling along the shear zone. Further updates will be provided in due course.”
New Millrose Assays
Results from the latest assay received from the Millrose gold project drilling programme, hole MRRC087, included 2m @ 10.9g/t Au from 58m; and 25m @ 5.1 g/t Au from 82m
Two diamond-tailed holes, MRDD009 and MRDD010 (assays pending), were drilled beneath the intersection in MRRC087.
Both diamond holes intersected the interpreted ore zone where expected, suggesting continuity of mineralisation at depth.
Drilling update
The initial northern extension programme (eight holes) is now complete with samples having been dispatched to the lab. Drilling was conducted on 50m step outs. The interpreted ore zone was extended for approximately 300m (assays pending).
The Millrose Central drilling was also completed over the previous week. This comprised 20 holes (six RC, four RC with diamond tail, 10 diamond). Initial drilling located a structural offset in the north of this area, with subsequent drilling intersecting the interpreted ore zone further to the west (potential sinistral offset) to where originally planned.
The RC rig is currently drilling along the shear zone to the south of Millrose.
