Talisman Mining Ltd (ASX: TLM) has provided an exploration update regarding its wholly-owned Lachlan Copper-Gold project in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. The company has encountered visual base metal sulphides at its Durnings and Kaolin Shaft prospects, with ongoing drilling and workstreams to continue across Talisman’s portfolio.
The company has also completed reverse circulation (RC) drilling at five separate targets. These targets were identified based on previous exploration works, including electro-magnetic responses returned from Talisman’s 2022 VTEM Max Survey (AEM) and magnetic anomalies from previous airborne magnetic surveys. To date, the company has completed RC drilling consisting of 20 holes amounting to 4,176m.
Visual base metal sulphides were also intersected at the Durnings and Kaolin Shaft prospects, reinforcing the prospectivity of the area to host significant volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) style mineralization. Assays are currently being processed by ALS Laboratories, with results expected in May.
RC drilling at the company’s Bonzer and Anticline prospects are now also complete; however, these did not indicate a source for the electromagnetic responses returned from previously done surveys. Talisman encountered similar results elsewhere in 2022, suggesting further work is required to determine exploration vectors at this prospect.
The company is continuing to test a further seven geophysical targets across exploration target areas EL8414, EL8568, and EL9298. Auger drilling continues with the Walkers Hill/Wirrilah auger programme, now near completion, with a total of 191 holes drilled and on-site sample analysis underway.
