Drilling Highlights Resource Expansion Potential
Tesoro Resources Limited (ASX:TSO) continues to grow its Ternera Gold Deposit at the company’s El Zorro Gold Project in Chile with further positive assay results.
Assays were received for 13 holes, which were not included in the recently published Maiden Resource Estimate (MRE).
Managing Director, Zeff Reeves, said all holes returned zones of gold mineralisation including an exceptional 230 g/m intercept from hole ZDDH0154, the 15th >100 gram metre intercept at Ternera.
“These results confirm our firm belief that the Ternera Gold Deposit will rapidly grow beyond the recently released 660koz gold Mineral Resource already defined,” Mr Reeves said.
“The eight holes from along the western margin of the deposit are particularly encouraging as they all fall outside the existing Resource Model and define a new north south fault zone which is well mineralised, particularly to the south. Infill drilling continues to inform the model as we rapidly move to a Mineral Resource upgrade during 2021, defining what we see as a large-scale open pit gold deposit”.
Holes ZDDH0150 to ZDDH0152, ZDDH0154, and ZDDH0156 to ZDDH159 (eight holes) were all drilled along the western margin of the existing Ternera Mineral Resource model, targeting near surface gold mineralisation associated with a series of controlling north trending fault zones.
The holes tested a strike extent of approximately 300m. Hole ZDDH0151 was abandoned at 16.60m due to bad ground conditions, all holes returned positive gold results.
Strongest results were returned from ZDDH0154 which intercepted the MF100 fault and appears to be improving to the south, where previously announced results from holes ZDDH0073, ZDDH0088, ZDDH0126 and ZDDH0133 have returned positive results.
This newly defined near surface gold zone is outside the Ternera Mineral Resource model, and is open to the south and at depth. Holes ZDDH0109 and ZDDH0113 were infill holes in the southeast sector of the deposit.
These holes were re-entered after reinterpretation of the geology in this area, and both returned positive gold results. Holes ZDDH0153, ZDDH0155 and ZDDH0160 were infill holes in the central sector of Ternera and added additional mineralisation, further expanding mineralised zones previously modelled.
Tesoro continues drilling 24/7 with six drill rigs at Ternera, the focus is to rapidly expand the Mineral Resource inventory at Ternera as well as convert existing JORC compliant Inferred resources into Indicated resources. Additional drilling is underway at Ternera East, with the aim of defining additional gold resources in the hanging wall zone of the Ternera Deposit.
