Tesoro Resources Limited (ASX:TSO) has identified gold in every assay results from the latest drilling at the Ternera Gold Deposit, located at the company’s El Zorro Gold Project in Chile.
Tesoro has received assays for nine diamond drill holes completed as part of the Ternera infill drilling program. All holes intercepted gold mineralisation, with wide gold zones intercepted increasing continuity of the higher-grade gold zones associated with north-south fault zones.
Managing Director, Zeff Reeves, said that in particular, results from hole ZDDH0203 further define a significant high-grade gold zone at depth in the east of the Ternera Deposit. This zone has now been well defined over 450m of strike and remains open in all directions.
“The results from hole ZDDH0203 continue to confirm the higher-grade potential at Ternera. We are seeing multiple repetitions of high-grade zones within the deposit, with a central zone now defined over 450m of strike, with some impressive high-grade results,” Mr Reeves said.
“The tenor and continuity of these zones provides confidence that ongoing drilling will continue to delineate further high-grade mineralisation.”
Gold mineralisation at El Zorro is strongly controlled by the intersection of the preferred El Zorro Tonalite (EZT) host rock and north trending faults and associated secondary faults and veins.
Gold mineralisation within and adjacent to the north trending faults forms well-defined, higher-grade gold zones, typically greater than 2.50 g/t Au, and typically within the fault zones are much higher grades over 20g/t Au.
These high-grade zones start at surface and plunge to the south within the EZT.
Hole ZDDH0203 has returned up to 56.60g/t Au from within a fault zone and a wider intercept of 25.00m @ 4.22g/t Au in the surrounding fracture zone within the EZT. This mineralised zone is now well defined over 450m of strike and remains open along strike and at depth.
Additional drilling is being undertaken to further define these areas which have the potential to add significant gold resources to the Ternera Deposit as well as provide potential to delineate increased gold grades throughout the deposit.
Holes ZDDH0201, ZDDH0202 and ZDDH0204 were all drilled in the southern sector of Ternera. All holes returned positive gold intercepts outside of the existing Mineral Resource model and have all demonstrated continuity of gold mineralisation up and down dip of previous drilling .
Holes ZDDH0199, ZDDH0200 and ZDDH0205 were all drilled into the western section of Ternera. Holes ZDDH0205 and ZDDH0199 have further defined the emerging western gold zone associated with a north trending fault.
This mineralisation is outside of the existing Mineral Resource model. Holes ZDDH0206 and ZDDH0207 were drilled targeting the shallow extensions of the eastern gold zone. Both holes returned positive high-grade results confirming the up dip continuity of previously identified mineralisation.
Next Steps
Drilling continues at El Zorro, focussing on infill and extensional areas at Ternera, along with drilling at additional targets Ternera East, Drone Hill and Toro Blanco. Tesoro is currently awaiting results from 40 diamond drill holes previously completed as part of this programme
