Tesoro Resources Limited (ASX:TSO) has drilled into multiple gold zones at the Ternera Gold Deposit and the Ternera East discovery, located at the company’s El Zorro Gold Project in Chile.
Tesoro, whih is aiming to expand the existing Ternera Mineral Resource of 660,000oz gold, has received assays for eight diamond drill holes completed as part of the current extensional and infill drilling program at El Zorro.
Managing Director, Zeff Reeves, said importantly, results received for four holes drilled at the Ternera East discovery all intercepted multiple zones of gold mineralisation, confirming the potential of additional gold resources to be added that are located well outside of the existing Mineral Resource Estimate model. See Table 1 for results.
“The results from Ternera East are very encouraging as we can now link zones of previously drilled gold mineralisation both up and down dip as well as along strike, confirming the presence of an extensive gold zone,” Mr Reeves said.
“This area is important to us as any gold resources defined to the east of the main Ternera Deposit have the potential to materially affect the economics of open pit mining at Ternera. We’ve obviously got plenty of drilling to do to delineate this area adequately, but these early results are very promising.”
Intercepts from Ternera East include:
- ZDDH0219: 7.00m @ 2.37g/t Au from 130.00m including, 1.15m @ 8.84g/t Au from 130.85m
- ZDDH0218: 0.50m @ 6.98g/t Au from 232.50m; and 4.60m @ 1.76g/t Au from 246.90m, including; 2.42m @ 2.85g/t Au from 248.58; and 1.00m @ 2.86g/t Au from 439.00m.
Holes ZDDH0216, ZDDH0217, ZDDH0218 and ZDDH0219 were all drilled targeting gold mineralisation at the Ternera East discovery, which is in the hanging-wall of the existing Ternera Gold Deposit.
Drilling was undertaken to follow up the previously reported drill intercepts from discovery holes ZDDH0149 (ASX Announcement 6 July 2021) and ZDDH0166.
All holes intercepted multiple zones of gold mineralisation associated with the host El Zorro Tonalite (EZT). The gold mineralisation intercepted at Ternera East drilling has now been defined over 600m of strike, down to over 400m depth and is continuous both along strike and down dip.
Holes ZDDH0209, ZDDH0214, ZDDH0215 and ZDDH0220 were all drilled as infill and extensional holes at Ternera. All holes intercepted multiple zones of gold mineralisation and have either broadened gold zones within the existing Mineral Resource model of extended mineralisation to depth or along strike.
Next Steps
Drilling continues at El Zorro, focussing on infill and extensional areas at Tenera, along with drilling at additional targets Ternera East, Drone Hill and Toro Blanco.
Tesoro is currently awaiting results from 42 diamond drill holes previously completed as part of this program and will report these results as they become available.
