Number Of Targets Available In NSW Gold Project
Thomson Resources Ltd (ASX:TMZ) has secured a drilling rig to be used on the Yalgogrin follow up drilling programme in NSW.
The rig will undertake the drilling programme at the Harry Smith gold prospect in the rich Lachlan Fold Belt, with the aim of commencing drilling in late November 2020.
Thomson Resources drilling to date has concentrated on the historic workings around the shallow Harry Smith open cut. NSW Mines Report no. 2507 states that 16,000 ounces of gold were produced from this working up to 1941, after being discovered in 1893.
The same report (MR 2507) has a sectional diagram of the Golden Spray shafts to the northwest which feature some impressive gold grades (Figure 3).
Additional gold was won from the Silver Spray shafts and drives to the west, but no working diagrams are available for this area. This line of lode is where Thomson Resources has made some excellent intersections e.g. 33m at 2.8 g/t Au from 28m depth (including 9m at 9 g/t Au) and 54m at 1.0 g/t Au from 8m depth.
The upcoming drilling programme is planned to extend and connect these zones.
There are three lodes in this part of the Harry Smith gold project – Harry Smith, Golden Spray and Silver Spray. Key results from each of these are:
- Silver Spray in 2019 – HSRC08 – 49m a t0.8 g/t Au from 30m inc. 5m at 2.6g/tAu; and HSRC09 –17m at 5.2 g/t Au from 38m inc. 9m at9.2 g/ tAu
- Golden Spray in 2019 – HSRC10 – 22m at 1.6 g/t Au from 30m;
- Harry Smith in 2019 – HSRC14-12mat1.2g/tAufrom63m;
- Golden Spray in 2018 -= HSRC04 – 54m @ 1.0g/t Au from 8m depth, inc. 12m @ 2.1g/t
The planned follow up drilling will test for the dip of gold zones as well as strike extensions and connections. As an example, the intercept of 9m at 9 g/t Au is open, not only along strike, but down dip. The dip has not yet been established so a proposed hole will be drilled behind HSRC09. A vertical dip would mean a 50m extension of the known gold zone.
