Results Received From Dielle Infill Auger Drilling
Turaco Gold Limited (ASX:TCG) has unveiled details of its significant exploration programme across it extensive 8,350 sq. km ground position in Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa.
Despite being in the middle of the wet season, the company’s drilling programs are ramping up at the Boundiali Gold Project in northern Cote d’Ivoire along with auger drilling at the Eburnea Gold Project in central Cote d’Ivoire.
Boundiali Drilling
Managing Director, Justin Tremain, said AC drilling is progressing as planned at the Boundiali Gold Project with almost 1,000 metres completed of a first pass 9,000 metre program. The first pass program comprises 200 metre step out traverses, across untested strike extensions to previously defined shallow gold mineralisation. Subject to results, the programme is likely to continue beyond the initial 9,000m, with a further five km of strike between the Nyangboue North and South prospects to be systematically tested.
Site works are nearing completion with several RC drill pads prepared for expected commencement of RC drilling next week. An initial RC program of ~3,000m will be undertaken at Nyangboue to test parallel structures, dip and plunge extensions to previously defined high grade gold mineralisation at Nyangboue which remains open in all directions.
“It’s exciting to be embarking on our first drilling campaign since the recent acquisition of the 6,194 sq. km Côte d’Ivoire exploration package from Resolute,” Mr Tremain said.
“The campaign at Boundiali will be the first drilling completed by Turaco at this exciting project and will test strike extensions and follow up the previous high-grade shallow drilling results at the Nyangboue discovery.
“We’re also pleased to embark on auger drilling at the Eburnea Project, particularly in light of the recently defined compelling, high tenor soil anomalies.”
Eburnea Project
Two rigs are currently undertaking maiden auger testing of ~5,300m at Eburnea, testing soil anomalies, in preparation for a maiden AC/RC drill programme. This immediately follows on from 5,660 metres of auger drilling completed on the eastern Satama permit with samples submitted to the laboratory and assay pending. Results will be announced as soon as available. The programme was testing anomalous geochemistry previously defined by Resolute within this permit.
Tongon North Project
The Tongon North Project is located on the highly prospective Senoufo greenstone belt in northern Côte d’Ivoire and covers a total area of ~1,540 sq. km across four granted exploration permits and one exploration permit application. The granted permits are held 100% by Turaco.
The project area is immediately adjacent to the north of the operating 4.5Moz Tongon Gold Mine owned by Barrick.
Dielle Infill Auger Results
Results have been received for a 1,940m infill auger drilling program completed at the 100% owned Dielle permit within the Tongon North Gold Project. The auger programme has demonstrated continuity of in-situ gold anomalism previously identified with broad spaced (400m by 50m) auger drilling within a 16 km NE-SW gold-in-soil trend. Infill auger drilling on a 200m by 25m grid across the priority areas has demonstrated the continuity of in-situ gold anomalism.
The withdrawal from the Mbengue joint venture has reduced the Tongon North Project area from 1,840km2 to 1,540 km2 and Turaco’s total position in Cote d’Ivoire to 8,350 sq. km.
