Assay TV caught up with Joanne Freeze, President and CEO of Candente Copper (TSX: DNT) to discuss the company’s recent completed Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) on the Cañariaco Norte Cu-Au-Ag project in Peru.
Joanne takes us through the headline numbers generated by the study, including plans for a lower initial CapEx of US$1.04B for 40,000 tonnes per day (tpd) production, to be followed by an expansion in year 7 to 80,000tpd funded by cash flow.
Joanne discusses the impact of metals prices on the financials of the project, with the study generating a base case after-tax NPV of US$1.01B and an IRR of 16.3% based on metals prices at US$3.50/lb Cu, US$1,650/oz Au and US$21.50/oz Ag.
The study forecasts life-of-mine average annual production of 173Mlb Cu, 31,395oz Au and 703,588oz Ag. With high ESG standards a key component for any successful mining operation, Joanne shares the company’s design strategies for minimising the environmental footprint of the project over its expected 28 year mine life.
