At 121 Mining Investment Sydney, the Battery Metals panel explored the supply and demand forecasts for the key battery metals and how deep the supply deficits are really expected to be. The panel discussed various impacts which could change demand, including changing battery chemistries and the impact of ESG factors. The future of recycling and the life-cycles of different types of batteries was discussed.
The panel then looked at the investment needed to facilitate more exploration in this space – where its going to come from and which types of projects are receiving this funding.
Questions from the audience went in-depth into graphite and it’s role in this space.
The panel also touched on the evolving roles for OEMs and others within the upstream and, finally, touched on how to work on the industry’s public relations and communications to the broader public.
