The Mining Investment Strategies panel at 121 Mining Investment Sydney examined a number of factors impacting the mining and investment industries today, beginning with a look at the global environment and how issues such as the Russia invasion into Ukraine is impacting the markets. The panellists touch on pricing, particularly for the key energy transition metals such as nickel and lithium. They also provide some insight into the future of hydrogen and green steel and what’s happening in those markets.
Looking at investment, the panellists share their process on assessing potential investments and how they assess risk, bringing in the impact of ESG on all of these decisions. This brings the discussion to look at the biggest challenges to the industry today – including ESG and social licence to operate, but also the big supply gaps and issues with project funding.
Looking back at ESG, the panel discusses how mining can find its place in an ESG-focused environment and what it will take to achieve net zero.
