Derryn Maade of Wood Mackenzie joined 121 Mining & Energy Investment Singapore to deliver a keynote on Supply and Demand on the Road to Net-Zero. He begins with a look at where we are in terms of targets and legislation and outlines how these compare with Wood Mackenzie’s Net Zero Framework, which is aligned with the Paris Agreement. Derryn points to certain decarbonization solutions which need to be deployed to help to meet these goals, breaking it down by industry such as power and transport.
Relating these goals back to the metals needed to grow our electric future, Derryn notes which metals are to see the biggest jump in demand due to drivers such as electric vehicles, and energy and grid storage. He also looks at the growing pressure on supply and challenges moving forward, including investor sentiment. Finally, he ends with some notes on what is needed to reach a net-zero future.
